Wasabi

Wasabi is S3-compatible hot storage with no egress fees.

1. Set up the storage

  1. Sign in to the Wasabi console and Create Bucket, choosing a region.
  2. Open Access Keys > Create New Access Key and copy the Access Key and Secret Key.
  3. Note your region’s service endpoint - for example s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com (the console lists the endpoint per region).

2. Connect it in Nyx Backup

Wasabi has no dedicated entry - set it up through the S3-Compatible destination. New backup set > destination S3-Compatible, then enter:

  • Endpoint URL - your region’s endpoint from step 3.
  • Bucket - the bucket name.
  • Region - the bucket’s region.
  • Access key and Secret key - from step 2.

Once Test connection succeeds, set a schedule and retention, save the set, and choose Run now. Nyx Backup encrypts everything on your machine before upload, so this destination only ever holds encrypted blobs. Give each machine its own bucket or folder - see Connecting storage.

Tip: Wasabi bills a minimum storage duration per object, so very churny data can cost more than its live size suggests - fine for typical backups.
